Spiritual Materialism: The Dogma And Dichotomy

When I first saw the title while looking for relative content on YouTube to publish on this website, which I did remotely via one of my other sites as a test, I thought that it was going to be of little or no value to my readers. But I did a rethink of what I want to achieve with my website and have since realised that I was completely wrong. Why? Well, because I am a big picture kinda guy and a bit of a tech head. I ponder about seemingly unimportant stuff, the small stuff, the connectedness of that stuff and impact of that stuff upon other stuff, be it a singularity or a system and that type of thinking is a good fit for an information marketer. In fact I 'm merely expressing myself in the manner that fits my writing style, my voice and in that process produce content that you can use, whilst having fun doing so.

So yeah, I would say "spiritual materialism" is very much a relative subject to publish here.

The phrase "spiritual materialism" is a very interesting use of words, as it appears to connect the world of spirit with the material world, rather than seperate it. It conjures up all sorts of images and when we look at it through the filter of conventional wisdom it would appear that our very existence validates the phrase. But what does it really mean? In the video below Chogyam Trungpa goes to great lengths to describe the trap that many spiritual seekers fall into. His main propostion is that the main mistake spiritual seekers commit is that they turn the pursuit of spiritualism into an "…ego building and confusion creating endeavor." This is based on the idea that ego development is counter to spiritual progress. This is witnessed by the commercialization of such endeavors such as "new age" bookstores, the commercial seminars held by self help gurus and the like. It is seen in the attempts of individuals who build up a list of credentials or accumulate teachings in order to present oneself as a more realized or holy person – it is self serving. People just get side tracked. The author Jorge Ferrer equates the terms, though others draw a distinction that spiritual narcism is believing that one deserves love and respect or is better than another because one has accumulated spiritual training instead of the belief that accumulating training will bring an end to suffering. The journey playing equally as an important part to the destination. Where both parts being equal, need to be filled with the feeling of enthusiam and "arriving there" with the knowledge that there is a reckoning of the status quo. In other words, the journey is the destination.

Having finally arrived at a relaxed place after several years of toil and many, many hours of study, hard work and a decent wad of well spent money. I am at a place where I can be myself and share with you what I have learned, while steering well clear of convention, it's just not me. I do however use conventional tools and best practices which will become very obvious as time goes on. My job then as your guide, as the guy who looks at Internet Marketing from that slightly different angle, is to share with you my insights and knowledge and not fill your head with rubbish that is self serving. The training and information shared is designed to inform you so you can make good choices for yourself. Plain and simple. So, I am not going to pump myself up, nor am I going to push products on you and insult you with bogus claims. Rather, I want you to perceive the value of what is presented to you, I want you to scrutinize what is put in front of you and test things out for yourself and I don't want you to just take my word for it. Because actions do speak louder than words, but words do however set up a very strong premise and are a great motive for action when used well.
